Frequently asked questions
The short answer to what people ask before they book a barista.
Booking
How do I book a barista?
Through the form on the homepage. You fill in your name, email address, the type of occasion and the date. The form opens your email program with the request filled in. You hear from me whether I am available and what I propose.
What does it cost to hire a barista?
That depends on the duration, the number of baristas, the location, the menu and whether a machine has to come with them. There is no fixed rate on the site. You get a proposal after you send a request. More about what sets the price is in Hiring a barista in Amsterdam.
How far ahead should I ask?
As soon as you know the date. A date that is still far away is no problem. If it is close, ask anyway and you will hear whether it works.
Where do you work?
I am based in Amsterdam. I work throughout the Netherlands, and abroad on request.
For which occasions can I book you?
For festivals and events, conferences and trade fairs, museums and hospitality, offices and regular shifts, and for private occasions such as a wedding or party.
Which languages do you speak?
Dutch, English and Italian.
Machine
Do I need an espresso machine?
Good espresso and milk drinks need a professional espresso machine with a steam wand. If there is one already, or you rent one, you book me directly. If there is no machine, I work as a partner of Barista Company, who provide the machine.
What happens if there is no machine?
Then I pass your request on to Barista Company. They contact you to schedule me in. The booking therefore goes through them. It is explained in Booking a barista with or without a machine.
Can I rent a machine myself and book you?
Yes. If you rent a machine yourself, you book me directly.
Is a bean-to-cup machine enough?
Usually not. Steamed milk and latte art need an espresso machine with a steam wand. Give the type in your request and it is quickly clear what is possible.
Coffee and menu
Which drinks do you make?
All of them. All coffees and regular tea are standard, from ristretto and espresso to cappuccino, flat white, caffè latte and latte macchiato. I can offer matcha, chai, mint, ginger and syrup on top. The ratios are on the menu card.
Is there a limit on the number of drinks on the menu?
No. I can make every drink, so the menu does not have to be smaller than your guests would like. How to build a menu is in Which drinks to put on the menu at an event.
Do you make latte art?
Yes, on every milk drink.
Are there drinks without coffee?
Yes. Regular tea is standard, and I can offer matcha, chai, mint and ginger on top.
Can I get plant-based milk or decaf?
Yes. All kinds of milk and decaf are possible, and I arrange that myself. Mention your wishes in your request and I will include them in the proposal.
Do you work with specialty coffee?
Yes, regularly. If you prefer a roaster or an origin, mention it in your request. More is in An SCA certified barista.
